OSHA Training 2015 Update

Page history last edited by Diana Robinson 7 years, 7 months ago

In April 2015, NYS DOL announced a change in their interpretation of 29 CFR 1910.156 (the section of the OSHA regulations that most directly address firefighter training, and the source of what many remember as the "15-hour new/8-hour annual refresher" minimum requirement).

NYS OFPC will be establishing a page on its website to post frequently asked questions as well as additional pertinent information relating to this initiative as well.  Here's what we have as of April 22, 2015:

firedepmemo-logos.pdf  (4/14/15 letter from NYS DOL explaining the need for changes)

Fire Department Annual Refresher 2 19 15-pdf.pdf (NYS DOL summary)

5- List of PESH District Offices.pdf

Best Practices_1-27-15-pdf.pdf (NYS OFPC's general recommendations)

Any questions regarding the documents should be directed to OFPC's Fire Operations and Training Branch.

The Library distributes complimentary copies of the PESH "Fire Protection and Ambulance Service" CD-rom.  The documents listed above are included, as well as many PESH training, guidance and recordkeeping aids, plus copy of our US/NY Line of Duty Death & Injury PowerPoint.  (The LODD PPT can be seen here -- US & NYS LODD & inj.pptx -- if you'd like the CD sent to you just send a request to OFPC.Library@dhses.ny.gov and we'll send it to you...
