HOT TIP #1:  To get PowerPoints off the Web on specific topics, try Google "Advanced Search."  Enter term or phrase, and in “File Type” specify PPT.
HOT TIP #2: Sick of "Death by PowerPoint" and want to create attention-grabbing presentations or lessons? Try these, all of which offer free versions:
  • Jing  http://jingproject.com , record your computer screen and share via email, Web or IM
  • Prezi  http://prezi.com, esp for non-linear concepts
  • Moodle http://moodle.org , Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

OSHA ANNUAL TRAINING: NYS DOL's interpretation of 1910.156 changed in April 2015.

Revised information is on the "OSHA Training 2015 Update" page of this wiki.  The information below is still available, but until new editions are issued they should be used selectively and in conjunction with the new guidelines:

  • The NYS PESH Fire & EMS CD-rom material isn't online yet, but you can get a complimentary copy from the Academy Library.
  • Brian Benstead's useful training checklist is online at  http://faculty.sunydutchess.edu/walsh/WORD/PESH_Fire_Service_Training_Checklist.doc
  • The NYS Assn of Fire Chiefs OSHA/Pesh Resource Guide, 2007 edition provides the regulations, background information, clarifications, guidance and helpful forms.  Available in print or CD format from the Association or on loan from the Academy Library.
  • To find videos & DVDs to borrow for use in OSHA-mandated training, try the Academy Library's online catalog.  Click on “Visual Search,” then “OSHA”
